Matt Maldonado joined the Central Asia Caucasus Institute as a Research Fellow and Program Officer in August 2020. He currently serves as a contributor to the Russia Reform Monitor, AFPC’s in-house bulletin on Russian governance and U.S. policy. His commentary has appeared in The Hill and The National Review. He holds a BA in Government and Russian Studies from the University of Texas at Austin, where he participated in the Bill Archer and J.J. Pickle Research Fellowships, in addition to serving as a FLAS Fellow in Kyiv, Ukraine. Matt has previously contributed to the work of AFPC’s Central Asia–Caucasus Institute, U.S. Foreign Policy and National Security Program, and the Resource Security Watch publication. He is proficient in the Russian language.
