Matt DeLancey is in his 18th season as the strength and conditioning coordinator for the Florida volleyball team, having helped the Gators to 11 Southeastern Conference titles and 17 NCAA Tournament appearances — each year of his tenure as a Gator.
DeLancey designs and implements the strength and conditioning program for the Gators. In addition to weight training, the athletes are on a year-round conditioning program that enhances their power, speed, agility, flexibility and overall anaerobic endurance levels.
Since DeLancey’s arrival prior to the start of the 2003 season, his impact is evident, as the Gators have posted an 88-33 (.727) record in matches lasting four sets or longer. His program is designed to allow Florida to be as fresh at the end of the fifth set as it was at the start of the match.
