Dr. Sean Roberts

Sean T. Roberts received a BS in Chemistry from the University of California Los Angeles in 2003, a PhD in Chemistry from the Massachusetts Institute in Technology in 2010, and worked as a NSF ACC-F postdoctoral fellow at the University of Southern California from 2010 to 2013. In 2014, Sean started his independent career at the University of Texas at Austin where he leads a research group that uses and develops ultrafast spectroscopic techniques to visualize the transport of charge, energy, and spin in nanoscale materials. Sean is a recipient of the NSF CAREER award, he is a Sloan Fellow and a Cottrell Scholar, and was named a Fellow of the William H. Wade Endowed Professorship in Chemistry in 2021. In 2017, Sean co-created Chemical REsearch At TExas (CREATE), a program that introduces students at Austin Community College to chemical research. Sean directs several projects supported by the W. M. Keck Foundation, the Welch Foundation, and the NSF and currently serves as the CDCM’s education and outreach faculty director.
