She has published numerous scholarly articles and books, including\u00a0<em>Queer Migration Politics: Activist Rhetoric and Coalitional Possibilities<\/em>, as well as co-founding the Queer Migration Research Network. She works with social justice organizations and her scholarship is informed by queer of color theory, women of color feminism,\u00a0poststructuralism, and cultural studies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ch\u00e1vez is currently an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Mexican American and Latino Studies at the\u00a0University of Texas at Austin. She previously worked at the\u00a0University of Wisconsin\u2013Madison\u00a0in the Department of Communication Arts.
