Dr. Michael Anderson is an associate professor of instruction and the director of the International Relations and Global Studies (IRG) undergraduate program in the College of Liberal Arts at The University of Texas at Austin. A historian by training, Dr. Anderson’s research interests focus on trans-Pacific intellectual networks and unofficial diplomacy in the 20th century. He is the co-author of Political and Economic Foundations in Global Studies (Routledge, 2019) and he served as associate editor of the Oxford Research Encyclopedia of the History of American Foreign Policy. Since 2013 Anderson has been the faculty director of the Global Challenges in France study abroad program. In the spring of 2019, he was awarded the Leslie Waggener Centennial Teaching Fellowship by the College of Liberal Arts in recognition of his contribution to undergraduate honors projects. Apart from his on-campus responsibilities, Anderson serves on the Board of the Austin chapter of the United Nations Association-USA.
