In this episode we talk about the societal, cultural and psychological impact on trainees, staff and patients of being a bystander in a medical training environment. We are fortunate to have the expertise of Dr. Jewel Mullen, M.D., MPH, Associate Dean for Health Equity at the Dell Medical School and associate professor in UT-DMS\u2019s Population Health and Internal Medicine departments, as well as Dr. Tina Ward, board certified Family Practice physician and current President of ABPA, Austin’s Black Physician Association which is dedicated to the health and education of the African American and under-served communities in Central Texas. Our discussion encourages listeners to challenge complacency and strive towards a work culture that prioritizes speaking out against injustices, microaggressions and blatant acts of racism in the workplace and otherwise. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
