He specializes in public economics, public choice, psychology and economics, public opinion, economics of the family and education, genoeconomics, and Austrian economics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Caplan is the author of&nbsp;<em>The Myth of the Rational Voter: Why Democracies Choose Bad Policies<\/em>, named \u201cthe best political book of the year\u201d by the<em>&nbsp;New York Times<\/em>, and&nbsp;<em>Selfish Reasons to Have More Kids: Why Being a Great Parent Is Less Work and More Fun Than You Think.&nbsp;<\/em>He is currently writing a new book:&nbsp;<em>The Case Against Education:&nbsp;<\/em><em>A Professional Student Explains Why Our Education System Is a Big Waste of Time and Money<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Caplan has appeared on ABC\u2019s&nbsp;<em>20\/20<\/em>, Fox News, and C-SPAN, and his articles appear in the&nbsp;<em>New York Times<\/em>,the&nbsp;<em>Washington Post<\/em>,the&nbsp;<em>Wall Street Journal<\/em>,<em>&nbsp;American Economic Review<\/em>,<em>&nbsp;Economic Journal<\/em>, the<em>&nbsp;Journal of Law and Economics<\/em>,and<em>&nbsp;Intelligence<\/em>.
