We ask students in the summer undergraduate research fellow. Or surf as we call it to take on a cancer research project over 10 weeks, Harini decided she wanted to take on two different cancer research projects this summer.
[00:02:06] Kristen: Here’s a little bit of what you’ll hear in a few weeks.
[00:02:11] Nagaharini: You have your own goals. You have your own idea of what you want to do when you grow up and what you want to pursue. And that doesn’t need to be something that’s super rigid or super. And so you look to see what you’re interested in, whether this is something that you’re interested in and eliminate any background noise.
[00:02:33] Nagaharini: Yeah. From that conversation with yourself when you’re exploring these careers.
[00:02:38] Kristen: And, and that’s why I think it’s sort of such a valuable… moment for students of, we hope you love this, but if you don’t, that’s also great information. Right? Exactly. Exactly. Exactly. It’s all good. Right? I think exactly. Just the information itself.
[00:02:54] Nagaharini: Just being educated, at least for me. That’s what I wanted to get out of this program was just to be able to be educated. Exactly. I think that oncology is a great field. And as of now, I definitely have it on my list of things to consider as future specialties and stuff. And it’s fine. If plans change, it’s fine.
[00:03:14] Nagaharini: If like other things happen. Yeah.
[00:03:16] Kristen: You’re not stuck.
[00:03:17] Nagaharini: Exactly. We’re not stuck.
[00:03:21] Kristen: While we hope Harini keeps oncology at the top of her list. Moving forward. We know she’s headed for an incredible career in medicine. We also wanna take a moment to thank Laura Pavitt as she sets off on her next adventure. She is the voice of our theme song.
[00:03:38] Kristen: You hear at the beginning of each episode, she’s led the charge on several episodes as the main host and creator.
